Golden Mayur Genesis Hand-Painted Madhubani Tussar Silk Saree
Some sarees are worn. This one is witnessed.
The peacock — Mayur — is one of Madhubani art’s most beloved symbols, representing beauty, grace, and the life-giving arrival of the monsoon. In Mithila tradition, the peacock is also the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati, making it a deeply auspicious motif for celebrations of knowledge and new beginnings. Painted stroke by careful stroke on Tussar silk — warm, earthy, and naturally textured, with a subtle golden sheen that holds natural dyes with extraordinary depth — this saree carries centuries of Mithila tradition in every fold.
Our artisan spent approximately 18 hours hand-painting this piece, working freehand without stencils or guides. No two sarees are ever identical. What you receive is a single, original work of art.
